Description

HOTEL CAPSA, Bucharest - Calea Victoriei no.36
Founded in 1886, Hotel Capsa is one of the most elegant hotels in Romania.

Hotel Capsa is a three-story building located in the historic center of the city, on Edgar Quinet Street, very close to the most important tourist attractions.

The hospitable staff and excellent cuisine reflect local tradition.

Elegant and distinguished, Hotel Capsa has class, style and discretion.

Built in 1852, "Casa Capsa" (Restaurant, Hotel, Café and Patisserie) is the symbol of Romanian high society. The founder, Grigore Capsa (1841-1902), introduced Western standards of quality and refinement from the very beginning. He made the Capsa name a trademark well known throughout the continent.

Hotel Capsa, opened in 1886 under the management of French manager Bourdell, former director of the "Hôtel Café Anglais" in Paris, soon became the most elegant Romanian hotel. In 1908, the British magazine "John Bull" named Hotel Capsa "among the best hotels in the world", comparing it to the "Douglas Hotel" in Madrid, "Capello Nero" in Venice, "Giappone" in Livorno and "Hungaria" in Budapest. For a long time it was considered the only fitting residence for artists, wealthy families or politicians and diplomats visiting Romania. They preferred Hotel Capsa because here they encountered the same elevated, aristocratic atmosphere.

On June 17, 2003, Hotel Capsa Bucharest reopened with only 61 rooms as a first-class hotel, "A five-star star" among hotels in Romania.
