CASA CU CERB (HOUSE OF THE STAG), Sighișoara, Mureș, Romania - str. Școlii no.1
Casa cu Cerb is located in the center of the medieval Sighișoara Citadel. It is a listed historical monument. The name comes from the exterior mural painting depicting a life-size stag, with its head and antlers mounted on the wall.
Casa cu Cerb is one of the oldest buildings in the Citadel and the most interesting from an architectural point of view. Over time it has undergone numerous and profound changes, from a rudimentary wooden dwelling (13th century) to the complex form finalized in the 17th century and preserved to this day. Throughout this time, Casa cu Cerb has served as a dwelling. It was inhabited by people holding high administrative, judicial or clerical/ecclesiastical positions. Between 1997-2001 Casa cu Cerb was completely and expertly restored through the care of the Messerschmitt Foundation of Munich, becoming a Romanian-German cultural center. This center specializes in the restoration and conservation of historical and cultural monuments.
It should be noted that the Messerschmitt Foundation also financed the restoration of the renowned Church on the Hill, also in Sighișoara.
The house has optimal conditions for organizing conferences, symposiums or seminars, in halls with up to 40 seats and modern facilities.
